Dunlop began in Belfast, Ireland in 1888 when John Boyd Dunlop’s son was struggling to learn how to ride a tricycle. Noticing his difficulties, John decided to fit his son's tricycle with tyres made of canvas bonded with liquid rubber. And the rest, as they say, was history as Dunlop went on to change the automotive tyre world forever with innovations in how cars travelled across the road.

Throughout the decades, Dunlop continued to perfect its design of rubber tyres, contributing to breakthroughs in the wider automotive industry.
