Fairy Fairy began in the UK in 1898 and is now an internationally recognised supplier of washing up liquid and dishwasher detergent. Although its origins began in the UK, it is now owned by the American multinational consumer products company, Procter & Gamble which includes the likes of Ariel, Flash and Lenor.

Fairy is most known for its trademark green washing up liquid but is today available in a variety of colours and scents, depending on where in the world it is sold. The original bottle with a red cap is widely used in the United Kingdom and Ireland but has since been replaced by PET bottles. Originally, Fairy soap bars were manufactured by Newcastle upon Tyne company, Thomas Hedley Co., which was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 1927.
