Established by two engineer friends in 1987, John Tu and Davin Sun saw a gap in the technology space and worked to fill it, which is when Kingston Technology was born. These two friends back in the 1980s noticed a severe shortage of surface mount memory chips and so designed a new one together that would go on to redefine industry standards for years to come. The headquarters for Kingston is in the Fountain Valley, Orange County, California. In the US, they have over 700 employees who mostly work in the main headquarters office. However, they are constantly expanding to include employees from all over the world to meet the needs of the global market. Since 1997, they have had a headquarters in Sunbury-on-Thames in the UK which is home to around 220 employees working on a hybrid model, splitting their time between office and home. They also have a headquarters in Taiwan, which is home to around 2000 employees.
