No matter where your life takes you, whether you are employed, travelling, unemployed, a home maker or something else entirely, you are sure to hear about the importance of recycling, reducing waste and helping the environment, on a regular basis. No matter how much you hear about it and do your best to improve your carbon footprint, we continue to harm the environment. One of the biggest offenders to this is plastic. Plastic is the number one product used by people every single day, despite the damage that it causes. We as the human race produce an eye watering 300 million tons of plastic each year and only 10-13% of this is recycled.
July has become Plastic Free July. This is to help combat this issue and educate us to become more aware of our plastic usage. We are encouraged to avoid all plastic products, particularly single use plastics, for the entire month.
Single use plastics are the largest contributor to the plastic pandemic. These plastics are used only once before being thrown away or recycled. Avoiding single use plastics is probably one of the trickiest tasks of all, as so many of our everyday items fall into this category without us realising. These items include straws, drinks bottles, food packaging, disposable cutlery, carrier bags, cigarette filters, and much, much more.
We at Office Stationery are always looking for ways to improve our carbon footprint as a company and are continuously trying to find eco friendly, biodegradable and plastic free products. We know that when you are trying to find products to make your business more environmentally friendly, finding the right things can be a minefield. So, to help is any way that we can with #PlasticFreeJuly, we have put together a list of items that your company may regularly use that you can replace with these plastic free alternatives -
