Health and Safety Essentials
Health and Safety is an incredibly important part of ensuring your workplace remains a safe and pleasant place to work. We have some essential items if you are unsure of how to make your workplace an even better and safer environment for everyone.
Medical Safety.
Medical safety covers a lot of areas but these are just ideas that are ideal for an office setting and can be carried out by a first aider or a competent colleague - dependent on the extent of the injury. We have a range of first aid kits available on our website that are designed to entail supplies that can cover most minimal injuries such as gauzes, bandages, plasters, and antiseptic wipes. These are also available on their own in bulk if you need to buy more of one particular item rather than the kit.
Fire Safety
Fires are an incredibly dangerous hazard that can break out unexpectedly causing a spout of chaos and panic. This reaction is obviously expected but with the right equipment available to you, you should feel more at ease. We supply many resources to aid you in a manageable fire such as fire blankets that can be hooked onto walls in places more susceptible to an outburst of flames such as a kitchen. Also, we have bins and other storage facilities to store water and sand that can be used to extinguish or prevent fires. Of course, you should have a basic fire extinguisher by law in your workplace that are able to diminish a larger flame effectively.
Hygiene Supplies
Hygiene is not something that can be snubbed in any official setting for health and safety reasons and general wellbeing of employees. Basic supplies are easy to obtain such as soap or sanitisers. However, there are other items that can increase hygiene that aren’t thought about as much, unless in a specialist fields, such as shoe covers and plastic gloves and aprons. These are great as they are cheap, disposable, and increase the likelihood of a cleaner environment.
Catering
Catering needs are similar to hygiene in that it is imperative to keep everything as clean and safe as possible. One item to help ensure this is having recyclable utensils such as paper plates and cups to minimise the risk of bacteria being transferred if utensils are not being washed properly. On top of this, another way is to ensure everyone handling food during preparation has gloves and an apron on for the customers’ safety.
Workwear
If your work is likely to take place in a somewhat hazardous area, it is a good idea to make sure you are as protected as you can be. If your environment is likely to be quite dark, such as night work or underground, it is always a good idea to have a torch and some high-visibility clothing. This way you can be easily seen by others and see where you are going to maximise your safety. Another imperative part of safety-driven workwear is hard-hats. Hard hats protect you from serious injury from potential falling objects and can be paired with steel-toe work boots to keep all 10 digits safe.
Weather Preparation
The weather can be a hard thing to predict even for the weather reporters so it is good to be prepared for all scenarios. For example, it is a good idea to have a large bag of salt or grit available in the event of sudden snowfall to clear the roads and paths for vehicles and pedestrians.
