Our guide to the benefits of flexible working
Making flexible working work for you.
The days of the Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 grind could be numbered. Research shows that flexible working is set to be the main way of working within 70% of organisations by the end of 2020. Whether it be working from home, teleworking, compressed hours or job share, it seems that employers and employees alike are waking up to new ways of working.
So with the benefits of flexible working plain to see, what are the things that organisations need to consider before introducing it?
COMMUNICATION
Make lines of communication open and clear so people still feel part of a team. Think about how and when they will check in with their boss and their co-workers.
COVER
Can the organisation function effectively if employees are not there? Remote working might not be an option but job share might be.
CONTRACTS
Make sure the rules of flexible working are set out in the employee’s contract so they are clear and there is no misunderstanding.
TECHNOLOGY
Make sure that people have the right equipment to do their job.
INCLUSIVE
Make flexible working policies inclusive so that everyone can benefit wherever possible.
